Each Year children in year 5 apply to become school council members. If elected they represent one of the fourteen classes within the school. They must meet regularly with their class and canvas their views as well as reporting back on decisions taken at school council meetings.
Meetings take place fortnightly on a Friday with the Head teacher and Assistant Head teacher. Minutes can be found in the School Reception area along with a photo board of school council members.
Over the last year the school council have raised over £2000. This money has been used to purchase extensive playground equipment. The school council has a chair, vice chair, treasurer and four sub committees:
• - Anti bullying
• - Playground
• - Fundraising
• - Development of the pond area
The council have held meetings with the local MP and have worked closely with BT on developing the new computing curriculum.
In July at the end of their term school council members are taken on a trip to the Houses of Parliament.
