The month of May is the annual National Share a Story Month and this year the Federation of Children’s Book Groups celebrates its golden anniversary with a theme of Celebrating a World of Stories.
During the week beginning 21st May we are having a special week when we will be:
exploring traditional tales and stories from a range of countries and cultures; we want to travel the world through stories
coming together as a school for special assemblies
having a themed dress up day on Friday
holding special events in the school library
holding a competition with 5 prizes of £5 to be won
inviting children and adults to share traditional tales with the class
holding a philosophy day using the Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf as a stimulus
sharing stories by the author Jessica Souhami; we will be exploring her ‘borrowed’ stories through drama, music, writing and art, and other areas of the curriculum
and our older children will be discovering the origins of well known traditional tales
