VE Day Celebrations

Our 80th Anniversary Celebration of VE Day

To mark the 80th anniversary of VE day, our school community came together for a wonderful day of remembrance and celebration. The children enjoyed a traditional street party-style lunch, complete with bunting and music, creating a joyful atmosphere across the school.

During the day, children were able to explore the history beneath our feet when visiting our Clifford Road Tunnels! This was an unforgettable experience for all.

It was a powerful day of learning, reflection and community spirit – a day we will all remember!

Our Special Visitor

We were honoured to welcome a special visitor, Jack, who attended our school during the Second World War. Jack joined us for lunch and later took part in a fascinating interview with our School Council, where he shared his wartime memories and experiences.

VE Mail

As part of our VE Day learning, children had the special opportunity to write heartfelt letters to real veterans through VE Mail. This meaningful activity allowed pupils to express their gratitude, ask thoughtful questions, and reflect on the sacrifices made during the war. It was a powerful way to connect the past with the present and show our respect to those who served.
