A Wartime Christmas

In Phase 1 we thought about Christmas now and then. In Nursery we sang Jingle Bells and explored bells and other percussion instruments. We also had fun making traditional Christmas crafts and we looked at photographs of Christmas in the wartime. We also looked at photos of families listening to the radio and looked at an old radio. We listened to wartime Christmas music on the radio too. In Reception we learnt the song Jingle Bells too and used bells to accompany our performance in the school carol concert. We thought about how we celebrate Christmas now and compared it to how families celebrated Christmas in the wartime. In drama we looked at a jelly mould from the air raid shelter and made up a story about a party in the war time. We acted out the story which ended with a Christmas party!
