The month of May is the annual National Share a Story Month and this year the Federation of Children’s Book Groups celebrates its golden anniversary with a theme of Celebrating a World of Stories.
During the week beginning 21st May we had a special week when we:
explored traditional tales and stories from a range of countries and cultures; we travelled the world through stories
came together as a school for special assemblies
had a themed dress up day on Friday
held special events in the school library
held a competition to find the story characters hidden on our website - with 5 prizes of £5
invited children and adults to share traditional tales with the class
held a philosophy day using the Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf as a stimulus
shared stories by the author Jessica Souhami; we explored her ‘borrowed’ stories through drama, music, writing and art, and other areas of the curriculum
and our older children discovered the origins of well known traditional tales
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
